The Indiana Farm Bureau will award 10 FFA chapters and 4-H clubs with funding through the new ag literacy grant program.
The winners all have developed an ag literacy program to take place between October and August 2025 that will create an event to help inform consumers about Indiana agriculture; kick-start a program to develop networking opportunities, relationships or educational opportunities between youth and adults in agriculture; or start an event that promotes ag practices and policies or educational efforts that will spark action in the ag community.
The grant recipients include:

Elkhart County 4-H
Franklin County 4-H
Tippecanoe County 4-H and McCutcheon High School FFA
Madison Consolidated High School FFA
Crawford County 4-H
Whiteland Community High School FFA
Beech Grove High School FFA
Sullivan High School FFA
Adams County 4-H
Candidates could apply for grants of up to $1,000, and grant recipients will be required to submit a report to INFB after their ag literacy program is complete. They also will need to present about their program to their local county farm bureau.

How can you make the most of your hay headed into the new year? The Indiana Forage Council and Purdue Extension will host a virtual forage quality seminar from 6:30 to 8 p.m. EST Tuesday, Nov. 12.
The seminar will include topics such as hay quality testing, analyzing test results and how livestock can benefit from better hay quality. Additionally, winners of the IFC Hay Quality Contest will be announced during the seminar.
Attendees can either view the seminar from their own device at home, or they can head to one of the several in-person viewing sites. For the seminar link and a complete list of in-person viewing sites, visit the Hay Quality Seminar webpage.
Gain nutrient management skills
Learn how to write a nutrient management plan at the Nutrient Management Workshop, hosted by the Purdue Extension. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Purdue Extension, Allen County office, located at 4001 Crescent Ave., Fort Wayne, Ind.
The one-day workshop will cover nutrient cycles and equip you with the tools to take manure samples, read a manure analysis and write a basic nutrient management plan.
Registration is $20 and includes one manure testing kit, a copy of the “Tri-State Fertilizer Recommendations for Corn, Soybeans, Wheat and Alfalfa” and lunch. Registration closes at 4 p.m. Oct. 31.
