Alfalfa IPM pest management for armyworms, variety selection, weed control demonstration, winter cereal production, stem nematode, diseases and roundup ready alfalfa will be among subjects featured Aug. 26 at the annual University of California Cooperative Extension alfalfa and forage meeting at the UC Kearney Research and Information Center, Parlier, Calif.

The field day take place from 8 a.m. until noon.

The meeting begins with a tour of the alfalfa variety trial at the Kearney station at 8 a.m., followed by a demonstration of spray nozzle adjustments and weed control techniques, and management of alfalfa stem nematode, slerotinia and crown rot. Charles Summers will also summarize his 50 years of alfalfa research conducted in the Central Valley of California. This meeting is sponsored by University of California Cooperative Extension. No registration is necessary.
