Fall field day scheduled Aug. 26

Kansas State University´s Agricultural Research Center at Hays will host a Fall Field Day on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the center, located at 1232 240th Ave. in Hays.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m., and the program begins at 9 a.m. Complimentary coffee and donuts, as well as a barbecue lunch later in the day, will be provided.
Field tours and presentations led by K-State Research and Extension specialists start at 9:10 a.m. and will include:
Value of Crop Residues for Soil Conservation - Humberto Blanco, soil scientist, Hays.
Soil Quality After 34 Years of Tillage Treatments - Humberto Blanco, soil scientist, Hays.
Development of Herbicide-Resistant Grain Sorghum - Phil Stahlman, weed scientist, Hays, and Kassim Al-Khatib, weed scientist, Manhattan.
Biofuel Production From CRP Lands - Keith Harmoney, range scientist, Hays.
Challenges in Managing Migratory Insect Pests - J.P. Michaud, entomologist, Hays.
Converting CRP Lands to Crop Production - Alan Schlegel, soil scientist, Tribune.
Volatile Grain Markets: Influence of the General Economy - Dan O´Brien, agricultural economist, Colby.
