Sid Fogg farms about 3,600 acres in beans, corn, wheat and rice in Arkansas’ St. Francis County. Asked on June 17 about crop conditions in his area Fogg lamented the recent lack of rain.

“Everything was looking good until the rains cut off,” says the veteran farmers who will host a resistant weed field day on June 29. “The last rain we had around here was on May 26. So, we’re into three weeks without rain and it’s 97 degrees. Without rain, the next week will hurt our dryland crop.

“Of course, we’re laying polypipe and watering and have every pivot running. We need a rain very quickly or this crop will really suffer.”
