Year-in and year-out, tarnished plant bugs are the number 1 cause of economic loss for Mississippi Delta cotton producers, says Angus Catchot, associate Extension professor of entomology and plant pathology at Mississippi State University. Planting early can make a big difference in the number of insecticide applications to control the pest, he said at the annual conference of the Mississippi Agricultural Consultants Association.
