From the Arizona Republic:
An insect known to transmit a dreaded citrus-greening disease has been found in medicinal tea brought through Nogales from Mexico, raising new fears that the bug could still find its way deep into Arizona.
Before that, the only place in Arizona the insect had been detected was Yuma County, which was put under quarantine by the Arizona Department of Agriculture in November 2009 after two Asian citrus psyllids were found. The quarantine, which is still in place, restricts the movement of citrus trees and fruit in and out of the county.
In the latest discovery, a traveler coming from Mexico on Jan. 4 declared fresh citrus leaves being brought in for a medicinal tea, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said Tuesday.
