The following is the latest Arizona Agri-Weekly report from the National Agricultural Statistics Service’s Phoenix, Ariz., Field Office:

Field crops

Cotton harvest is 78 percent complete ahead of last year at 69 percent, and ahead of the five-year average of 75 percent. Alfalfa conditions range from poor to good. Sheeping off is active in western and central alfalfa acres in Arizona.

Range and pasture conditions vary from mostly very poor depending on the location and elevation.

Vegetables, fruit, and specialty crops

Central Arizona growers shipped cabbage, cantaloupes, greens, honeydews, spinach, and lemons.

Western Arizona growers shipped arugula, broccoli, cauliflower, cilantro, Chinese cabbage, endive, escarole, frisee, kale, Boston, iceberg, and romaine lettuce, and green leaf, red leaf lettuce, bok choy, parsley, spinach, cantaloupes, honeydews, and miscellaneous melons this week.

Weather summary

Temperatures were mostly above normal across Arizona for the week ending Nov. 29, ranging from 4 degrees below normal at Canyon De Chelly and St. Johns to 7 degrees above normal at Phoenix. The highest temperature of the week was 82 degrees at Coolidge and the lowest reading of 7 degrees occurred at Canyon De Chelly.

Precipitation was reported at seven of the 22 stations. Phoenix and Winslow received .01 inches and Flagstaff received .21 inches of precipitation. There are no reporting stations with above normal precipitation. Twenty of the 22 stations show less than 60 percent of normal precipitation.
