Safe ditch cutting

New rotary cutters from Schulte Industries make cutting ditches and slopes safe. The new FLX15 and FLX10 feature a flex arm design that keeps the tractor from riding on a slope while cutting. This lowers the risk of rollovers and reduces wear and tear on the tractor. The flex arm also allows the operator to be in a good position to view obstacles before they reach the rotary cutter. The 10-ft. FLX10 retails for $10,300, and the price of the 15-ft. cutter is $11,000. Contact Schulte Industries at 800/404-6044, visit or

John Deere introduces its 5003 series tractors designed to be tough, yet economical. The series includes a 5103 model with 44 engine horsepower, the 5203 with 53 hp and the 5303 with 64 hp. The tractors are powered with 3-cyl., 2.9-l John Deere PowerTech engines. The 5103 and 5203 engines are naturally aspirated, and the 5303 engine is turbocharged. The transmission includes nine forward and three reverse speeds. A straddle-mount operator station gives the operator improved visibility and comfort. Suggested retail prices: 5103 model, $13,983; 5203 model, $15,624; and 5303 model, $17,068.

The new John Deere 510 loader is compatible with the new series of tractors. Frontier Equipment also supplies a full line of implements to support the new tractors. For more information, visit your local John Deere dealer, visit or

New Fast sprayer

Fast Distributing has a new commercial-duty pull-type sprayer with 60- to 120-ft. suspended booms. The model 7420, high-clearance, high-capacity sprayer uses the same center pivot design found on the company's 60-, 80- and 90-ft. booms. A nitrogen-charged hydraulic accumulator that is similar to those used on cushion combine heads is used on all Fast boom systems. Trailer movements are isolated from the boom system, allowing a smooth ride through the field at fast speeds.

The 7420 sprayer includes a new sloping trough-style sump for tank drainage and oven-baked, powder-coat paint. Prices start at $26,000 for a 1,000-gal. sprayer with 80-ft. boom and Raven controller. Contact Fast Distributing, Dept. FIN, 54859 County Rd. 44, Mt. Lake, MN 56159, 800/772-9279, visit

Planter drag chain

If your planter's closing wheels are not finishing the job in wet or heavy soil conditions, Yetter's new 6200 drag chain will help. According to the company, the chain pulls remaining soil into and over the trench, levels it and then lightly firms it. This improves seed-to-soil contact and enhances germination, Yetter reports. The chain is 19 heavy-duty, ⅜-in. links that are beveled to pull the soil aggressively. The chain easily attaches to most planters with bolt-on mounting straps. Price: $23/chain. Call Yetter Mfg. Co. at 800/447-5777, visit or

Residue manager

When Yetter Manufacturing Company developed its new Titan Residue Manager, it made quick and easy in-field adjustments a priority. Depth adjustments are made from the side of the planter unit with a spring-loaded QuikAdjust system.

The Titan fits most popular planters. It mounts on the side bar to add support and strength to the planter row unit while freeing up attachment space on its face. Wheels can be set to run with one wheel leading or with both wheels parallel or interlocked. The Titan can be set to float over the soil surface or locked down for positive wheel traction in tougher residue conditions.

The heavy-duty, 2½-in. residue manager arms are made of high-yielding steel.

Price: $299. Call Yetter Mfg. Co. at 800/447-5777, visit or
