Speed-shift McCormick

Fingertip gearshift operation is now available on McCormick MC and MTX series tractors. The McCormick Speed Sequencer transmission's internal controls are the same as those for a regular powershift transmission, but the conventional range lever is replaced by a sophisticated multifunction controller. Lever functions include speed/range change, range skip-shift, soft shift for gears 9 through 16, and hitch raise/lower.

For rolling down the highway or pulling empty trailers, a “range skip” switch allows the transmission to shift up to the first speed within the next range.

Shifting from forward to reverse during loader work is easier with this transmission. If reverse is selected while in a forward gear of 13 or higher, the transmission will shift to the 13th reverse gear. Below 13th speed, forward or reverse gears will shift to the same gear.

Price for the option is $1,495. Contact McCormick International USA Inc., Dept. FIN, Box 81, Pella, IA 50219, 866/327-6733, or visit or

Flexible tracks

You can order a customized track system from Track Specialties and Landluvr Manufacturing to handle heavy loads. The tracks feature a patented system that provides even weight distribution along the total length of the tracks. As a result, less stress is placed on the large end wheels, boggie wheels and rubber tracks. The tracks will float over uneven terrain or objects with its independent fore and aft movement and independent side-to-side movement.

Three track configurations are available. The three-fourths (234-in.) track system retails for $17,000. A full, 344-in. track system and multiple track caddy system retail for $19,000. Contact Fulk Agri Services, Dept. FIN, 13245 Running Horse Rd., Platte City, MO 64079, 816/858-5836, or visit or

Four-steer skid steer

Mustang Company will bring six all-wheel steering (AWS) loader models to market through selected dealers in North and South America. Three of the models (ML43, ML53 and ML73) will be telescopic loaders, adding to their lift capability.

Mustang AWS loaders are an expansion of the Mustang skid-steer line, offering higher tipping loads and extended dump heights. The AWS loaders share the same ergonomic features as the rest of Mustang's products.

Steering with all four wheels improves the loaders' handling, and their high steering angles and small track circle make tight corners simple to negotiate. Unlike articulated wheel loaders, the AWS loaders are built with a rigid frame, increasing steadiness when moving loads around the job site. According to the company, the wheels of its loaders always remain in a perfect rectangle. Because there is no articulation, the center of gravity stays at the machine's center.

There's plenty of usable power, too. When an AWS loader drives into a pile, an automatic downshift system reduces speed and converts it to pushing power. The total hydraulic system is used to move material out of the pile. The machines can be fast, as well. A high-speed option gives the loaders a travel speed of 25 mph.
