LSU adds water policy Website

The LSU AgCenter is making a Website available to help Louisianans keep track of what is happening with policies related to water. The Website will provided up-to-date information on proposed legislation on issues concerning water, as well as the text of speeches presented at a recent “water summit” held in Baton Rouge.

“This is a complex topic,” said Paul Coreil, LSU AgCenter associate director for environmental programs. “We are trying to provide one spot where people can go to find out what experts and policymakers are saying.”

The site — — includes the complete text of proposed bills and Gov. Mike Foster's proposed water policy developed by his State Water Policy Advisory Task Force.

It also includes speeches presented at the Feb. 12-13 Louisiana Water Summit, which was sponsored by the LSU AgCenter. Speakers included representatives from the U.S. Geological Survey; state agencies in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas; agricultural groups; the LSU AgCenter; and the governor's office.

“If people want more information, we also have provided e-mail addresses,” Coreil said.
