Montana's WestFeeds claims to be the only Montana animal nutrition company with a staff animal nutritionist holding a Ph.D. And now the company can also claim to be part of the growing family of Alltech companies. In May, Alltech announced it had acquired WestFeeds, which joins a lineup of nutrition companies including Ridley, Lakeland Animal Nutrition and Keenan.

In its announcement, Alltech COO Michael Castle commented that WestFeeds has a "strong reputation of providing producers with high-quality animal nutrition products. We believe there is great benefit for our customers in our teams joining forces for the future."

WestFeeds has Montana manufacturing facilities in Billings and Great Falls, and retail outlets in Billings, Dillon, Great Falls, Lewistown and Miles City. In addition, WestFeeds products can also be found at many local dealers in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho.

Jerry Begger, general manager, WestFeeds, said the WestFeeds team is "embracing the opportunity to join Alltech because we can see very clearly how our companies' strengths complement one another, to the benefit of our customers."

WestFeeds has area nutrition specialists serving both Montana and Wyoming as well. The company's diverse product line meets the demands for beef range and beef feedlot customers. In addition, the company produces products for sheep, horses, swine, poultry and pets.

Begger will continue leading WestFeeds, assisted by two-year Alltech veteran Kyle Klimpke.
