Portable corral

The Rawhide portable corral can be set up and ready to contain cattle in six minutes. More than 20 different corral configurations are possible. The corral features wheels on each panel. Lifting is eliminated thanks to an electric-over-hydraulic jack system. The corral includes frame gates for cattle sorting. Loading chutes and 300-head-capacity systems are also available.

Prices start at $8,000. Contact Rawhide Portable Corral, Dept. FIN, 500 N.E. 14th, Abilene, KS 67410, 785/479-1331, visit www.rawhide or, or circle 187.

Push-off bale spear

The Automatic Stack Saver from Westendorf Manufacturing holds bales stationary as it automatically releases the bale spear, without disturbing the stack. Models are available for both big square bales and round bales. Both types make use of a loader's existing hydraulic cylinder that is designed to tilt the bucket forward or backward.

The round bale model, Stack Saver I, is equipped with a metal push plate that pushes out against the bale as the tractor backs away. The Stack Saver II for big square bales uses the full width of the frame to hold the bale in place.

The products fit most loader makes and models. A “snap-attach” feature allows the Stack Saver to be mounted and dismounted hydraulically.

The Stack Savers are priced from $800 to $1,000. Contact Westendorf Mfg. Co., Dept. FIN, Box 29, Onawa, IA 51040, 712/423-2762, visit or, or circle 186.

Flexible ventilation controls

Osborne Industries can program the new e-Vent controls to meet a customer's specific ventilation needs. The e-Vent ventilation controls are available with an AC EnergyMizer function to allow integration of air conditioning into the ventilation system. Once the AC EnergyMizer set point is reached, the control shuts down all exhaust fans, except for the minimum needed to exhaust toxic gases, thus maximizing the cooling effect of the air conditioner. The controls also allow automatic temperature ramping. A test mode feature allows the user to test all ventilation stages after installation and can help locate any control problems.

The controls cost $650 to $1,000, depending on the number of stages. Contact Osborne Industries, Dept. FIN, Box 388, Osborne, KS 67473, 800/255-0316, visit or, or circle 185.

New feeder design

The Pequea Machine Corporation model 500 bale feeder cradles hay bales within an inside frame to make it easier for livestock to eat from any of the 18 feed openings without wasting hay. The frame is positioned above a 15-in. deep-bottom pan made of 12-gauge steel. The pan keeps hay off the ground and helps give producers the option of feeding grain or silage. Four drainage holes in the bottom pan keep hay from soaking up moisture. The model 500 feeder has skids to make it easier to transport.

Price: $858. Contact Pequea Machine Corp., Dept. FIN, Box 66, Boscobel, WI 53805, 800/873-1911, visit or, or circle 184.
