Owners offer yield, soil, variable rate and other precision farming technology maps with land sold at auction.

What would you pay for land that comes with complete precision farming and variable rate prescription maps? What if also came with mule deer? Read about those and other offerings from recent Dakota land auctions:

Precision farming data to boot
A section of land on the Montana-North Dakota border near Beach, N.D., which has been managed with precision farming technology, sold for about $1,450 per acre. The seller made all the soil, prescription variable rate seeding and fertilizing, yield, and electronic conductivity data available as part of the sale. One thing not on the map: mule deer. “The area is also known for its big game hunting, with large herds of mule deer in the area,” the sale bill read. — Auction managed and conducted by Pifer’s Auction and Realty, Moorhead, Minn. $7,775 per acre for donated land in Minnehaha County, S.D.
Eighty acres of farmland in Minnehaha County, east of Dell Rapids, S.D., donated to the South Dakota Community Foundation, sold at an auction in May for $7,775 per acre. The buyer was able to take immediate possession of the land and begin farming it this year. About 72 acres is cropland. Portions not being cultivated had been in the Conservation Reserve Program. The land has a .799 county productivity rating and an 85.3 Surety Agridata rating. Clay County, S.D., land sells for $4,500 per acre

Red River Valley land sells for $3,610 per acre
Productive agricultural land located midway between Hatton and Northwood, N.D., adjacent to paved Highway 18 sold for approximately $3,610 per acre in a sealed bid auction. The 157-acre parcel was available for 2018 crop year and was enrolled in ARC-County farm program. — Sale managed by Farmers National Co., Kyle Nelson, listing agent. Brule County, S.D., land brings $3,550/a
About 285 acres in Brule County, S.D., recently sold for $3,550. The land was just outside of Pukwana, S.D., and had development potential, according to the sale bill. Seventy acres of pasture and lake front property suitable for a secluded cabin or camping spot sold for $2,650 per acre. — Auction managed and conducted by Wieman Land and Auction Co., Marion, S.D. Fort Pierre Ranch averages $791 per acre
The 2,784-acre Fort Pierre Ranch in Stanley County, S.D., sold at auction in May for an approximately $791 per acre. The property consisted of 830 of cropland and 1,954 acres of grassland.  The seller ran a cow-calf operation and grew corn, wheat, grain sorghum and sunflowers. Ranch improvements included stock dams, rural water and buffalo fencing.  Four different buyer bought the property in six tracts at prices ranging from $675 per acre to $1120 per acre. — Auction conducted and managed by Dakota Land Company, Todd Schuetzle, broker. Half cropland, half wildlife habitat near Glen Ullin, N.D. sold
About 160 acres near Glen Ullin, N.D., sold for $1,000-$1,200 per acre at an auction this spring. This property included about 80 acres of cropland and 80 of wildlife habitat along a creek that runs through the property. — Auction managed and conducted by Pifer’s Auction and Realty, Moorhead, Minn.
