The Oklahoma Irrigation Conference August, 19th at the Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center in Fort Cobb, features topics to help producers become more efficient irrigation managers. 

Topics include using the Oklahoma Mesonet to schedule irrigation, moisture sensors, and Smartphone Apps to control center pivots and water wells.  Also, featured speaker Kent Wilkins from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board will discuss how the state’s 50-Year Water Plan will affect producers who irrigate.   Presentations also include how to avoid mistakes when installing a center pivot, the benefits of using subsurface drip irrigation, water quality, and cotton irrigation management will also be made.  

Conference registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and sessions begin at 9:30 am.  Interested participants are asked to RSVP prior to August 14th.  An online registration is located at http://oces.okstate.edu/caddo/oklahoma-irrigation-conference.  A $15 per person registration fee can be paid at the door.  Booths with conference sponsors will be available and representatives will be on hand to discuss crop irrigation related products.  

A total of four Certified Crop Advisor continuing education units (CEUs) approved in the Soil and Water category will be provided.
