UNDER PRESSURE: One Nebraska study, which is being conducted by Nebraska Extension researchers and educators, is trying to establish the overall center pivot health across the state. Initial findings from monitoring data from 60 Nebraska pivots found that about 58% of those were operating below the required regulator inlet pressure for more than 5% of their operating time. If that's the case, Troy Ingram contends that farmers are facing crop uniformity issues and giving up yield potential within their fields. He and other Nebraska irrigation specialists hope this study will recognize the issues and help farmers come up with ways to improve the pressure data on their center pivots.
