GET GOING: A quick way to see all of the show is to map it out online first. But feel free to also pick up a show program, relax and plan your next stop while at Husker Harvest Days.Elizabeth Hodges

Editor’s note: Husker Harvest Days is Sept. 10-12 in Grand Island, Neb. Visit HuskerHarvestDays.com.

There are only three days to see all that Husker Harvest Days has to offer, but a new website can help you get the most out of the show.

Here is how to navigate to the landing page and a few items to check out:

Online access. First, go online to HuskerHarvestDays.com. Under “Plan,” click on “My Show Planner and App.” From there, you can visit the web-based My Show Planner or download the app. Then, you can create your show account and access the show map, schedule and exhibitor list.

Map quadrants. The show map is divided into four quadrants. Hover over spaces to identify exhibitors’ locations. Explore the floor plan, which provides a bird’s-eye view of the showgrounds. Click on any area to enlarge it and view additional details. For specific exhibitors, hover over lot numbers to see their locations.

Search function. Use the search function to find specific companies or product categories. Simply type the name of the company or product in the keyword search bar at the top of the map page. For example, if interested in tractors, click on “tractors” to see a list of exhibitors in that category.

My Show Planner. This feature creates a personalized list of companies to visit. Add them to your show agenda. When searching for a company or product, clicking on it takes you back to the map, showing its location.

Featured exhibitors. After registering, explore featured exhibitors. They provide additional information, including addresses, phone numbers, product photos and website links.

Plan ahead. Coordinate with family and friends by adding appointment or meeting times using the calendar function under “My Show Planner.”

Post-show information. After the event, revisit Map My Show to catch up on any new information.

Remember, register early to maximize your time at the show. There’s lots to see. Map My Show is also available to download on an iPhone or Android. Visit the App Store or Google Play, and search for Husker Harvest Days.

Editor, Missouri Ruralist

Mindy resides on a small farm just outside of Holstein, Mo, about 80 miles southwest of St. Louis.

After graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural journalism, she worked briefly at a public relations firm in Kansas City. Her husband’s career led the couple north to Minnesota.

There, she reported on large-scale production of corn, soybeans, sugar beets, and dairy, as well as, biofuels for The Land. After 10 years, the couple returned to Missouri and she began covering agriculture in the Show-Me State.

“In all my 15 years of writing about agriculture, I have found some of the most progressive thinkers are farmers,” she says. “They are constantly searching for ways to do more with less, improve their land and leave their legacy to the next generation.”

Mindy and her husband, Stacy, together with their daughters, Elisa and Cassidy, operate Showtime Farms in southern Warren County. The family spends a great deal of time caring for and showing Dorset, Oxford and crossbred sheep.
