When it comes to representing the interest of Nebraska farmers and ranchers, Nebraska Farm Bureau is always there. Formed in 1917, the organization knew by working together it could accomplish more than working alone. That is still the case today.

“Nebraska Farm Bureau is the state’s largest general farm and ranch organization, and Husker Harvest Days represents a tremendous opportunity to connect with Farm Bureau members, as well as give others a chance to learn more about who we are and what we do as an organization,” says Steve Nelson, NEFB president.

This year has been a difficult one for Nebraska farmers, ranchers and rural communities suffering from the natural disasters that have impacted the state. Nebraska Farm Bureau established the Disaster Relief Fund at the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation to provide aid to Nebraska farmers, ranchers and rural communities affected by the disasters.

“The generosity of people across Nebraska and the United States is humbling,” Nelson says. “Nearly $3 million has been collected for the Nebraska Farm Bureau Disaster Relief Fund, and nearly all of the funds raised have been distributed.”

Whether it’s to help in a disaster or talk about issues affecting agriculture at the Capitol in Lincoln, or in Washington, D.C., NEFB continues to work to find solutions for agriculture's challenges.

Free snow cones, work gloves

Located on Lot 48 on Main Street, NEFB invites HHD visitors to take a break at the NEFB building with a free snow cone. And visitors who show their Farm Bureau membership card at the building can receive a pair of leather work gloves. If you are not a member, you can sign up to become one and still get a pair of gloves while supplies last.

Those visiting can sign up for a chance to win a new John Deere Gator, Grainger products and Milwaukee tools. Medica will be handing out information about NEFB’s new Member Health Plan and about living a stress-free life.
