A complete herbicide program in Roundup Ready 2 Xtend^® soybeans will include preplant residual products and overlapping chemistries for best weed management and resistance management purposes. Optimizing weed control in this system means using the dicamba formulation labeled for use in the Roundup Ready^® Xtend Crop System for soybeans, XtendiMax^® herbicide with VaporGrip^® Technology, a restricted use pesticide.

A key to maximizing weed control with on-target applications of XtendiMax with VaporGrip Technology and minimizing the potential for off-target movement in the Roundup Ready Xtend Crop System will be adhering to important application requirements. Monsanto worked with the U.S. EPA to update the XtendiMax with VaporGrip Technology label to enhance requirements around training and record keeping and to add the restricted use pesticide designation. The enhanced label provides, among other updates:

The training can be completed a few ways, depending on what’s required within an individual state. The training covers application requirements, record keeping, identifying susceptible/sensitive crops, application windows and understanding inversions, among other topics. The departments of agriculture in individual states are being worked with to determine how best to deliver the training and fulfill state requirements.

A form has been developed that farmers can print and complete to track record keeping requirements such as susceptible crop awareness, nozzles and application timing, among others. As a restricted use pesticide product, the sale and use of XtendiMax with VaporGrip Technology is limited to certified applicators or those acting under their supervision.
