CLEAN FIELDS: A new preplant and preemergent herbicide can help get sunflowers off a weed-free start. Lon Tonneson

FMC has launched a new preplant and preemergence herbicide called Authority Edge. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has approved registration for use on sunflowers.

Authority Edge controls a wide spectrum of weeds including waterhemp, Palmer amaranth, pigweed, kochia and foxtail. The new herbicide is effective against ALS (acetolactate synthase), triazine, HPPD (4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase), glyphosate and PPO (protoporphyrinogen oxidase) herbicide-resistant weeds.
