Hemp is in the final stages of growth at Steve Groff’s Cedar Meadow Farm in Holtwood, Pa.
Hundreds of people attended the hemp field day to get information on final plans before harvesting and drying gets started.
Mitch Shellenberger of Shelmar Acres in Mount Joy, Pa., bought an 8.5-foot whole plant harvester from Formation Ag in Colorado. The machine can do 5 to 12 acres an hour and attaches to the front of 200-hp tractors.
Bryn Gohn Racing, a winged sprint car team based in York, Pa., brought its No. 22 race car to the field day. Parts of the car are made using hemp-based products.
"Just Say Know" is a play on the classic "Just Say No" anti-drug campaign of the 1980s, but Bryn Gohn Racing hope Just Say Know brings attention to the many possible uses of industrial hemp.
