Marrone Organic Innovations, Inc. announced that the new herbicide, GreenMatch EX, is now listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI).

Launched in February of 2008, this innovative and effective solution to weed control problems on organic crops was formulated to meet standards of the National Organic Program.

It is also a registered material in the Washington State Department of Agriculture's Organic Food Program.

Many organic operations will only use products that have passed the extensive review of OMRI.

“GreenMatch EX gives organic growers the most efficient, longest-lasting burndown of a wide spectrum of weed species, and the product's OMRI listing assures them that their organic certification is safe,” states Julie Versman, vice-president of marketing at Marrone Organic Innovations.

GreenMatch EX is a non-selective, post-emergent weed killer based on the essential oil of lemongrass.

It is sold in 5-gallon pails for use in food crops and is also gaining momentum with municipalities who are limiting the use of chemical herbicides.

The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) is a national non-profit organization that provides organic certifiers, growers, manufacturers, and suppliers an independent review of products intended for use in certified organic production, handling, and processing.
