Greenhouse Tomato Course scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday

Growers or farmers considering entering the business of growing greenhouse tomatoes should plan on attending the Course, which will be held for the 13th straight year. Speakers will address all aspects of production, heating and cooling, economics and marketing, alternative greenhouse crops and pest management.

Tuesday and Wednesday, March 11 and 12th will be reserved for seminars with lunch and suppers included as part of the program. Thursday will be tour day when participants will board tour buses to visit two greenhouse tomato operations in the Jackson area.

This year’s course is being held in conjunction with the USDA Risk Management Agency, which is allowing the Course to bring in a broader range of speakers, including experts from Arizona to North Carolina.

For more information, contact Dr. Rick Snyder, professor and vegetable specialist with the Truck Crops Experiment Station, Crystal Springs, Miss., at 601 892-3731 or visit the Greenhouse Tomato Short Course Web-site: http://www.msstate.edu/dept/cmrec/ghsc.htm.
