West Coast universities have teamed with wine industry groups to launch a website that will serve as a hub of information on smoke exposure and how to mitigate its effects.

The West Coast Smoke Exposure Task Force website is designed to be a one-stop-shop to learn how to deal with and mitigate smoke exposure for growers, winemakers, and other serving in the wine and winegrape sector, its sponsors say.

The task force works with researchers from University of California, Davis, Oregon State University, Washington State University and the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service.

The site includes advice on:

  • Frequently asked questions

  • Best practices

  • Crop insurance

  • Wildfire preparedness

The site also has informational videos and updates on university research.

The website is supported by a grant from ARS through the Washington Wine Industry Foundation.
