Jason Auxier, marketing coordinator with Morgan Winery, has been honored with the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award from the Santa Lucia Highlands Wine Artisans (SLHWA).

The award was recently presented to Auxier at the 2016 SLH Gala celebration. The SLHWA is an alliance of the appellation’s winegrowers and wineries.

SLHWA Executive Director Dave Muret said, “Jason is an integral part of our SLH creative team and is always looking for ways to further the AVA's reputation. He promotes the association's values and the quality of our wines.”

The Josh Lee Volunteer of the Year Award was created in memory of Josh’s positive attitude and hardworking support of SLH Wine Artisans’ events. The honor is bestowed annually to an individual who gives freely of their own time and expertise to further the SLGWA goals.

Last year’s award recipient was Stefani Chaney of Scheid Vineyards.

The SLHWA, formed in 2005, is an association of vineyards and wineries – www.SantaLuciaHighlands.com.

The Santa Lucia Highlands region includes about 6,500 acres of vineyards which produce cool climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah grapes, grown on elevated terraces and alluvial fans on the Santa Lucia mountain range.

The area received A.V.A. status in 1991.
