The resurging Kansas wine industry is thirsty for employees — and Highland Community College, Highland, Kan., is working to fill that glass.
The college’s viticulture and enology courses at its Wamego, Kan., campus are designed not just for young people starting their careers, but also midcareer professionals who are looking to start their own vineyards and wineries. Classes are held on weekends to account for students’ careers. And students can work in all aspects of the grape-growing process, as well as vineyard marketing, management and ownership.
