National Sorghum Producers is proud to announce the winners of the 2010 NSP Yield and Management Contest.

Farmers from 20 states spanning from New Mexico to New Jersey entered to win this year’s contest. Producer yields are highlighted in nine different categories with this year’s top yield at 200.29 bushels per acre.

The national winners will be further recognized at Commodity Classic in Tampa, Fla., on March 4, 2011, at a dinner to be held in their honor sponsored by Pioneer.

First place national winners that will be honored in Tampa include Sunland Enterprises Inc. in Colorado which won the Reduced-Till Irrigated category with a yield of 180.28 bushels per acre; Courtright Farms in Nebraska in the No-Till Non-Irrigated category with a yield of 174.29 bushels per acre; John M. Scates of Illinois in the Mulch-Till Non-Irrigated category with a yield of 171.22 bushels per acre; Chris Robinson Farms in Kentucky in the Conventional-Till Non-Irrigated category with a yield of 200.29 bushels per acre; and Jeff Scates of Illinois in the Conventional-Till Irrigated category with a yield of 181.37 bushels per acre.

Duane L. Vorderstrasse of Nebraska won the Irrigated National Food-Grade category with a yield of 142.82 bushels per acre. Mike Fischer of Nebraska earned first place in the Non-Irrigated National Food-Grade category with a yield of 127.73 bushels per acre. John Scates of Illinois won the Irrigated Bin Buster Award category with a yield of 186.40 bushels per acre, and Chris Robinson Farms in Kentucky yielded 200.29 bushels to win the Non-Irrigated Bin Buster Award.
