National Sorghum Producers CEO Tim Lust said he made his first presentation to a FIFRA Scientific Advisory Panel convened by EPA 21 years ago. He gave another presentation a couple of years ago – on the same product.

“I told them that during that time the science hasn’t changed, but EPA certainly has,” said Lust, speaking at a media event held by Dow AgroSciences at Stoneville, Miss. The changes are presenting challenges for farmers and the organizations that represent them, he said.

Grain sorghum producers received Section 18 emergency exemptions for Transform on sugarcane aphids in their crop last April, but the process was a difficult one because of the legal challenges being brought by environmental activists groups.
