Getting grain into the bin in good condition is a priority each fall. Once it’s in the bin, the priority shifts to keeping that grain in good condition so it’s as good when you sell it as when it went in. Several new products introduced by companies recently could help you reach those goals.

Both Meridian and Hutchinson introduced new augers for moving grain from one place to another safely and efficiently. Kongskilde was the only company at fall farm shows offering a new grain cleaner engineered to deliver clean grain going into the bin. Grain management specialists say it’s much easier to store grain successfully if it’s not full of debris and fines, which often settle in the middle of the bin and disrupt airflow.

Fairbanks Scales offers something unique when it comes to scales and servicing. A new noncontact calibration service can ensure your scales are weighing properly without someone physically entering your facilities to check them.

Steps GMS is back with a new small but effective sensor to measure heat and humidity in air exiting the bin. Developer Eli Troyer says this product complements their existing lineup, and is just one more way to monitor storage conditions within the bin.
