An alert system that tells an operator when a grain bin is full is available from BinMaster. A rotary level indicator sends an alert to a horn or light so an operator will know that the bin is full. This means the operator doesn’t have to stop the auger and climb a ladder to check the grain level. It also helps prevent overfilling.

The rotary level indicator is installed on a bin wall near the top of the bin. The motor is mounted outside on the bin and a stainless steel paddle on the inside. The paddle turns until grain reaches the paddle and stops it. At that point, the alert is sent to the operator. Rotary indicators from up to 24 bins may be wired to a central light panel.

The rugged-built rotaries have an average life expectancy of 15 years, BinMaster reports. The rotary motor turns off once the bin is full and only runs when needed.

The rotaries are available in two models: the BMRX and a fail-safe Maxima+ that sends an alert when there is motor failure. The standard MBRX rotaries range from $200 to $240. The Maxima+ with an LED status light and advanced fault conditions costs about $400. For more information, call 800/278-4241 or visit www.binmaster.com.
