For 30 years, Texas agriculture leaders have met once a year to discuss pressing issues affecting farm and ranch decisions across the state. Sessions have covered everything from conservation to water and farm policy. The latest forum, held Feb. 20 in Austin, focused on the Agriculture Act of 2014 and the challenges farmers face as they decide which of several programs will suit their individual operations.
Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture Mike Conaway and former ranking member of the House Agriculture committee Charlie Stenholm discussed the new program. Stenholm was the driving force behind establishing the forum 30 years ago.
