Neenan selected for United Fresh post

Rob Neenan will become the vice president of environmental affairs and sustainability at United Fresh Produce Association in Washington, D.C. on March 1.

“Rob will be an excellent leader to help develop and grow our Foundation’s new Center for Global Produce Sustainability, which was established last year through a founding grant from Bayer CropScience,” said Tom Stenzel, United Fresh president and chief executive officer.

Neenan has strong ties to California agriculture. He currently serves as vice president of government affairs at the California League of Food Processors in Sacramento, Calif. He analyzes environmental, energy, food safety, and other issues affecting the fruit and vegetable processing industry in California.

Neenan previously served as director of trade services at the California Grape and Tree Fruit League, Fresno, Calif., from 1997-2005. He also was an economist in the Agricultural Marketing Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. from 1987-1997.

Neenan received his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University in 1981, and his master’s degree in Agricultural Business from California State University, Fresno in 1986.
