Mid-South farm bill meetings scheduled

Growers in the Mid-South states will have 10 opportunities in March to learn how the Agricultural Act of 2014 will impact their farms.

The meetings will be hosted by the National Cotton Council.

The new five-year farm law includes changes in cotton’s safety net and a greater reliance on crop insurance, says Mark Lange, NCC president and CEO. The law will be implemented over the 2014 and 2015 crops.

“As with previous farm laws, some of this legislation’s provisions are complex, and the Council wants to provide our members with the insight necessary for them to plan accordingly,” said Lange. “ All producers, cotton industry firms and agribusinesses are encouraged to attend any of these important meetings.”
