Farmers should do own analysis for farm program decisions

Joe Outlaw says some ag economists have been saying that ARC will be the better crop insurance choice for corn farmers when they begin signing up for coverage under the Agricultural Act of 2014. But his and analysis by economists with the University of Missouri’s Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute indicates the choice depends on a number of factors, especially now that corn prices have declined significantly. He discussed the issue while providing an overview of the Farm Bill Decision Aid at a meeting in Memphis, Tenn.
