After Congress barely passed an eleventh-hour extension of the 2008 farm bill on Jan. 1, many hoped Congress would quickly return to work on completing action on the legislation that passed the Senate and the House Agriculture Committee in 2012. That no longer appears to be in the cards, according to a speaker at the National Cotton Council’s annual meeting in Memphis, Tenn. John Maguire gave NCC members an update on where efforts to pass the bill appear to be heading.
