Greater risk protection

Normal0falsefalsefalseEN-USX-NONEX-NONEMicrosoftInternetExplorer4Producers who use the Start Clean, Stay Clean Assurance Plan for Roundup Ready soybeans will find additional incentives available for risk protection.

Valent and Monsanto have enhanced the program to offer up to $13.00/acre if soybean fields require a second in-crop weed control treatment. Producers need to follow the program by using preemerge residual herbicides Intrro, Valor, Valor XLT or Gangster, followed by Roundup WeatherMax or Roundup PowerMax at the proper timing. Last year, the program offered $3.50 to $8.00/acre and was part of Roundup Rewards $170 million in claims from producers, says Curt Uebele, Monsanto Roundup marketing manager. This year marks the 10th year of the rewards program.

“By continuing to offer Intrro, Valor, Valor XLT and Gangster as part of Monsanto’s Start Clean, Stay Clean Assurance Plan, farmers will be able to maintain their strong weed management program and minimize the selection pressure for resistant weeds,” Uebele says.

The two companies also have announced a renewal of the Volunteer Roundup Ready Corn 2 cost-share allowance, where producers who use Valent’s Select Max Herbicide with Inside Technology to control Roundup Ready Corn 2 in Roundup Ready soybeans and Roundup Ready Flex Cotton can receive up to $3.90/acre toward the purchase of Select Max.

“Producers need every edge they can to improve their yields and, ultimately, their profits,” says Jamie Nielson, Valent brand manager. “We see both of these joint Monsanto/Valent programs as a way to help producers protect their investment while protecting their crops against tough weeds and volunteer corn.”
