The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released a new Crop Insurance Plan for California strawberry growers for the 2022 Crop Year. The new Production Revenue History (PRH) policy can be viewed here and offers both yield and revenue protection.

The USDA previously offered the Actual Revenue History (ARH) policy that can be accessed and reviewed in detail at Actual Revenue History: California Strawberries (usda.gov). This only insures historical revenue, whereas the new Production Revenue History (PRH) policy offers three types of protection: yield protection, revenue protection, and revenue protection plus.

Only one form of protection can be selected by the insured. Each form of protection uses the same approved projected price to establish the guarantee.

All multi-peril crop insurances are available from private insurance agents only. A list of crop insurance agents is available at all USDA service centers and on the RMA website at www.rma.usda.gov/tools/agent.html.
