The four new hay balers highlighted here would make Grandpa look twice. There’s also a machine that does something Grandpa never could have imagined — it wraps big round bales on the go.

Vermeer introduced the self-propelled baler prototype earlier. A limited number of commercial models is now available. The last time a new hay baler had an engine, a tractor pulled it. That was Grandpa’s day. This is now!

Other companies are introducing innovative balers with more features too. Claas offers both a new baler to make large, square bales and a new round baler. The Rollant 540 RC Pro big round baler uses a fixed bale chamber and is built for heavy-duty use in the field.

New Holland introduces a bale wrapper to wrap big bales. You can wrap on the go with this new product.

Maschio opens eyes with a shiny new baler ready to deliver on promises made by spokespeople. It both bales and wraps, explaining why Maschio chose “Combi” to be part of the name. This baler is designed to handle high-moisture bales intended as haylage.

These new models take their place alongside competitive lineups of hay balers already in the field. Each new model released by a company seems to offer features that help a farmer do more or do the same job more quickly and easily than before.
