Field day features energy savings tips

Farmers may find ways to reduce energy costs at a tillage and fertilization clinic Oct. 10 at Thrall, Texas.

A morning session begins at 9:15 in the Thrall Fireman’s Hall. Afternoon sessions move to the Stiles Farm Foundation for field demonstrations.

Speakers include Charles Stichler, retired Extension agronomist. He’ll discuss successful tillage strategies in Texas dryland crops.

Also, Mike Petersen, precision tillage agronomist with Orthman Manufacturing, will talk about strip tillage as a tool in fertilizer placement, root growth and nutrient utilization.

A Round table discussion follows those presentations.

Afternoon demonstrations include strip till equipment from various manufacturers and observations of root development.

A $10 registration fee includes lunch.

Participants may earn three continuing education units.
