Mike Pearson talks with Caleb Lentz, Iowa State FFA, North Central VP, about his involvement in the FFA.

Lentz grew up in town and then his family started working some acreage. Eventually, the family started farming with Lentz' grandpa and uncles.

He started showing cattle and working with row crops. Then about three years ago, he started working in hog confinements.

Lentz says he was pushed to get involved in FFA by his father and brother who were both members of the organization.

Lentz says he joined in seventh grade but was more involved in sports than leadership at the time. However, with the FFA involvement, that changed and he found out what was important to him.

Some of the highlights from his year as vice president have included visiting lots of FFA Chapters and getting to meet other students. Lentz says he enjoys sharing his story in the FFA and likes to hear about other students experiences. He also enjoys playing games with the FFA Chapters.

Currently, Lentz is a freshmen at the Des Moines Area Community College studying waterway construction and will eventually transfer out to finish his education.

The end goal for Lentz is to become an agriculture educator.
