Minnesota FFA individuals and teams punched their tickets to the national convention by claiming first in state Leadership Development Events during the LDE Conference held in St. Cloud in early December.

Individual LDE winners are:

  • Creed speaking: Katelyn Runge, St. James FFA, sponsored by the Paul Hansen family

  • Employment skills: Taylor Berkner, Sleepy Eye FFA, sponsored by National Grid Renewables

  • Extemporaneous speaking: Luke McCrea, Bethlehem Academy FFA, sponsored by the Minnesota Farm Bureau

  • Prepared public speaking: Lilly Kallevig, Sleep Eye FFA, sponsored by Robin E. and Lori Ann Kinney

  • Spanish creed speaking: Adriana Orozco, Highland Park FFA, sponsored by the Minnesota FFA Foundation

Team LDE winners are:

  • Ag issues: Litchfield FFA, sponsored by Syngenta

  • Conduct of chapter meetings: Dassel-Cokato FFA, sponsored by Curtis Youngs

  • Parliamentary procedure: Dassel-Cokato FFA, sponsored by Kevin and the late Nancy Dahlman

FFA members also participated in the Minnesota Farm Bureau Discussion Meet, with Abby Bauer of the Medford FFA taking home top honors.

The LDE conference, sponsored by Compeer, was the first such gathering by the organization. Traditionally, all individual and team competitions have been held during the spring state FFA convention at venues on the University of Minnesota campus and at the Lee and Rose Warner Coliseum on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds near the St. Paul campus.

The Warner Coliseum is undergoing a roof-replacement project that is expected to be completed and allow the facility to reopen in April 2026, making it unavailable for the 2025 state FFA convention.

The Minnesota FFA Association also sponsors Career Development Events, which take place during the annual Minnesota State FFA Convention in April. Those winning FFA teams and individuals also advance to compete in the national competition.

During the State FFA Convention, Minnesota FFA’s outstanding students in agriculture, food and natural resources also are recognized with Proficiency Awards in their chosen supervised agricultural experience and with Minnesota FFA state degrees.
