MONTAG MANUFACTURING'S dry fertilizer application unit splits the air for each row prior to metering the fertilizer, resulting in more precise application that is especially useful in strip tillage. The complete unit (polytank, metering system and framework) can be mounted on a toolbar or cart, including the Montag autosteer cart. The company claims that the technology can reduce fertilizer use by as much as a third.

The system can be used with any dry fertilizer or fertilizer blend and is available with a 6- or 9-ton tank and in 8-, 12-, 16- or 24-row configurations. List prices start at $17,830 for a 6-ton, 8-row unit and go up to $28,820 for a 9-ton, high-output 24-row unit. Montag carts list from $12,930 to $21,830.
