North Star Agri Solutions, Hettinger, N.D., introduces a new version of its multipurpose live bottom trailer, the North Star Tuff Silage Trailer.
The new trailer is 36 feet long, has an inside width of 95.5 inches and has 5-foot-tall standard sidewalls with 30-inch sidewall extensions for hauling silage. Capacity is 28 to 30 tons of 68% moisture corn silage or 30 to 40 tons of manure.
The live-bottom trailer has a 3/8-inch-thick floating Super Slide plastic liner, manually adjustable floor chains tensioners, Hendrickson air ride suspension, dual hydraulic floor drive motors and a No. 80 chain reduction drive designed for easy service and maintenance.
Base list price is $54,000 freight on board at Carson, N.D.
The North Star Trailer line originated on the Archibald Ranch in southwest North Dakota and northwest South Dakota and is manufactured in collaboration with Pete Reis of Tuff-E Manufacturing, Carson, N.D.
The Archibalds designed a trailer that they could use every day on their ranch and in their feedlot, Mike Archibald says.
The trailer had to:
• haul and stockpile manure
• haul small grains and corn during harvest
• haul modified distillers grains
• haul dry fertilizer and seed to tend air seeders in the spring
• be easy to maintain
• have replacement parts that were readily available
• have a finish that would last
North Star Agri Solutions also manufactures a line of portable panels, bale feeders, hopper bottom grain bins and bale forks and is currently developing and testing a new piece of equipment to load feed trucks in under a minute.
