Reducing compaction with a center pivot rig has long term implications for the health of your field, and many different approaches have been tried. For irrigation, this new 320/85R38 tire will replace the popular 13.6x38 irrigation tire common on many center pivot systems. And the tire will provide a range of radial advantages, according to Dawson Tire & Wheel.

The tire runs at lower-pressure common with radials which reduces compaction and lengthens the footprint of the tire in operation for improved traction. The tire has a heavy load rating even at low pressure which suits it for use in corner arm applications too. And it fits a standard 10x38 wheel without the need for a tube.

Radial tires have been common in agriculture for some time, but this is a first for the irrigation industry, a pivot tire, according to the company. As farmers seek better ways to reduce compaction for all equipment radial tires offer some options.

The tire uses Trelleborg's patented R-1W lug pattern along with interlug terracing which provides better cleanout when pushing through muddy fields. And the tire has stronger radial construction compared to a 6-ply bias tire.
