Looking for a new mulching head? Loftness has expanded its line of Battle Ax products with its 10 Series. Featuring a lightweight yet heavy-duty design, it can be used on smaller excavators ranging from 7,000 to 10,000 pounds in a variety of applications. These include right-of-way vegetation management, site preparation, fire prevention, invasive species removal, landscaping, pasture reclamation and more.
“People have been asking for a Battle Ax that could be used on excavators weighing less than 10,000 pounds,” says Clint Major, product development coordinator for Loftness. “We engineered the 10 Series in response to that demand. The result is a lightweight mulcher that can be used on compact excavators yet provide the same level of performance.”
The 10 Series’ depth gauges, which function like raker teeth on a chainsaw, optimize the amount of material being fed into the drum at one time. This speeds up operation and creates more desirable particle sizes. Also, the 10 Series includes Loftness’ two-stage cutting chamber, which uses two shear bars to help process material more thoroughly than competitive mulching heads.
Latest tedders from Europe
ready to cut next year
First introduced in Europe, Claas is bringing its tedders and mowers to the North American market in time for 2025’s first cuttings. Machines include an expanded Disco mower line and wider Volto tedders — the 1300 T and TS, and the 1500 T and TS.
The Volto line features a new frame and chassis concept with optimal ground-contour following and soil protection, simple operation and folding geometry, optimized rotor guidance, and a completely re-engineered drive. Both working widths are available in the standard Trailed “T” version and the “TS” version with innovative self-steering chassis.
Claas’ Disco large-scale mowers worked in the forage harvesting sector on large farms and for contracting work for 25 years. To mark the milestone, four new mower-conditioner combinations will be made available in North America for 2025: the Disco 9300 C Comfort, Disco 9300 RC Comfort and Disco 9300 C AS Business, along with a Comfort version of the Disco 1100.
Midi excavator supplies
highest horsepower available
Powered by a four-cylinder, 73-hp engine, New Holland Construction’s new E90D is the highest-horsepower midi excavator on the market. Its hydraulic system delivers 42 gallons per minute, letting operators run multiple attachments simultaneously.
“With features designed for the modern operator, the E90D is equipped to handle a wide range of applications, making it an indispensable tool for any job site,” says Dan Kakareka, product manager for New Holland Construction, North America.
Designed specifically for heavy-duty applications in a compact form, the E90D midi has a dump height and dig depth of almost 7 feet. This lets operators tackle various tasks such as grading, trenching and site preparation with ease. The machine’s bucket breakout force is 13,000 pounds, and its operating weight is 20,305 pounds.
