Fall harvest is a crazy, busy time on most crop operations. There are a lot of details to manage, and even veteran farmers may find themselves caught short, especially in a year like 2022. But there’s some help ahead. Mark your calendar for July 26-28 when the next seasonal sessions for FarmProgress365 premiere.

FarmProgress365 is an information-rich website featuring an archive of valuable information for your farm. It’s also the virtual launch platform for a series of live events offering viewers a chance to gain insight on a range of topics. The next series is focused on prepping for harvest.

There are three virtual sessions, each featuring a presentation and a chance for viewers to ask questions during a live Q&A. The July 26-27 sessions are focused on harvest prep, both your machine and your technology. The July 28 session, as with all seasonal sessions throughout the year includes an in-depth look at the markets. Check out the upcoming series:

July 26 – 10 a.m. Central

Prepping your combine for harvest. We talk with Dean Froemming, veteran service technician with Minnesota farm equipment retailer Arnold Companies Inc., about key factors to review before rolling out this season. Froemming has a long history in working with combines of all brands and will offer a walkaround showing key features to manage. In addition, he’ll be available for the live question-and-answer session for this program.

July 27 – 10 a.m. Central

Harvest preparation — the tech side. Travis Kohrman, founder of Xperience Ag, a Greensburg, Ind., company, works with farmers to maximize the precision ag tools they use and the information they acquire. Kohrman notes that he’s worked with farmers who have information they have yet to put to work and sees value in helping producers make the most of what they learn. He’ll discuss those issues and be on hand to answer customer questions live.

July 28 – 10 a.m. Central

Market update ahead of harvest. How are crops looking? What does that mean for your marketing plan ahead of harvest? We’re talking with Brian Basting with Advance Trading Inc. Originally Tommy Grisafi had been announced for this presentation but has a personal conflict and can’t be available for the live Q&A.

Basting is a familiar face to farmers who watch “This Week in Agribusiness” and “U.S. Farm Report,” where he makes regular appearances. Basting is a commodity research analyst for Advance Trading. He was born and raised in Bloomington, Ill., on a grain and livestock farm. He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in ag economics from the University of Illinois.

Before joining Advance Trading in 1993, he worked for a farmer advisory service based in Wisconsin. He is responsible for wheat market fundamentals and domestic grain consumption trends, assisting in feed grains and soybean analysis.
