John Deere has unveiled new equipment and products which will be showcased at the 2016 Sunbelt Ag Expo, including an expansion of its compact tractor series, a folding corn head, a new spray nozzle and software options to streamline data collection and analysis.
Folding head
Corn growers operating John Deere group 6 and 7 S-Series Combines can use the new 8-row 608FC folding corn head.
“Harvesting with a new John Deere 8-row folding corn head can lower operating costs and allow customers to harvest additional acres per move by not having to transport the head separately,” said Roger Maes, senior marketing representative for John Deere Harvester Works. “That helps contribute to their bottom line and make them much more productive and profitable.”
The 608FC is available in 30-inch row spacing with or without the stalk chopping option. The head folds quickly to a narrow 10.9-ft. width. The 608FC has an improved row unit slip clutch and drive shaft interface for longer life when harvesting today’s more robust hybrids.
New 2R Series Compact Tractors
John Deere is expanding its 2R Series Compact Utility Tractor line with two new large-chassis models, the 2032R and 2038R, which feature a redesigned body for improved stability in the 38-horsepower range.
A premium suspension seat, ergonomic controls, tilt steering wheel, cruise control and thick rubber floor mat provide a comfortable operator experience. The tractors are equipped with standard work lights on the fender and an optional premium LED work light kit.
The industry exclusive CommandCut lift system provides quick and accurate cutting height adjustments for precision cutting. The Twin Touch foot controls simplify speed and direction, while the eThrottle allows the machine to automatically increase or decrease engine speed, and standard cruise control keeps ground speed consistent.
The 2R Series features fully independent implements, allowing for front, mid and rear implements to be installed at the same time and combined in up to seven different ways. The larger implement options from the 3R tractors are now available for the 2R series models.
3E Series Compact Tractors
To meet varied customer needs and budgets, John Deere expanded its 3E Series Compact Utility Tractor line to include the 3025E. With the addition of a 25-horsepower option, John Deere now offers a trio of compact utility tractors all the way up to 38 horsepower.
The 3025E features a two-range hydrostatic transmission, increasing tractor performance while eliminating clutching for fast and easy direction changes. Twin Touch foot controls provide an automobile-like experience.
The operator station offers easy access to color-coded, ergonomic and intuitive controls. The 3025E can be transformed with a variety of implements. The optional iMatch Quick-Hitch provides easy rear-implement hookup while operators stay seated.
“The 3025E will surprise customers, who would, for the lower price, expect to find nothing more than a basic, ‘bare-bones’ tractor,” said Michelle Bentley, product marketing manager. “Instead, they discover the nicely equipped, hardworking machine that goes beyond, providing reliable performance at an affordable price.”
Intelligent nozzle
The John Deere ExactApply intelligent nozzle control system is available on new John Deere 4-Series Sprayers. Starting with 2018 models, the technology provides sprayer operators a consistent droplet size and pattern through a wide range of speeds, while reducing the potential for overlaps, skips and drift.
“Another important feature with the ExactApply is John Deere’s Pulse Width Modulation system that offers three times the pulsing frequency of traditional PWM systems on a wide variety of nozzles,” says Doug Felter, product marketing manager, crop protection and nutrient solutions.
ExactApply is compatible with all boom sizes equipped with stainless steel plumbing. Operators have full variable-rate and shut-off functionality at the nozzle level (every 15-20 inches). ExactApply is fully integrated with the GreenStar 2630 Display and SprayStar.
Data platform to other software suppliers
The John Deere Operations Center new page, “More Tools,” provides information and links to solutions from other companies using the John Deere open data platform, and allows farmers access to tools they need from many top ag software providers while still keeping their data housed in a single location.
“The option to pick and choose the solutions that make sense for an operation with practically no extra effort needed to transfer data between them is key for simplicity and usability,” says Kevin Krieg, software segment manager, John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group.
JDLink Connect connects the machine to the Operations Center and takes the burden of data collection and transmission off of the farmer. In addition to agronomic data, it collects machine data to give the full picture of what is happening on the farm.
