THE LSU AGCENTER'S eighth annual Greenhouse Tomato Seminar and Field Day will be held Feb. 27 at the Red River Research Station in Bossier City, La.

Running from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the free-of-charge program will cover what is new in the industry, production problem solutions, pest control and a tour, according to LSU AgCenter horticulturist Tom Koske.

The program opens with a presentation by LSU AgCenter horticulturist H.Y. Hanna, a research professor at the station. He will discuss and show pictures of his recent trip to Canada to learn the latest production practices for growing greenhouse tomatoes in that country.

Following him, LSU AgCenter plant pathologist Randy Sanderlin, with the Pecan Research Station in Shreveport, La., will discuss greenhouse tomato diseases and control measures.

Keith Yamamoto with the Asahi Glass Company, Ltd., in Tokyo will then talk about enhancing greenhouse light to improve tomato production.

Afterward, LSU AgCenter entomologist Michael Hall, with the Pecan Research Station, will talk about tomato insects and control measures.

The day ends with a tour of the greenhouse research facilities.
