WINNER: Keith Davis of Corydon, Iowa, entered a contest at last year’s Farm Progress Show and won a Bobcat loader. Farming with his family in southern Iowa, Keith is also the Wayne County sheriff.

Keith Davis of Corydon, Iowa, is the winner of a Bobcat S650 skid-steer loader in the “2016-17 Bobcat-Penton Agriculture Win a Bobcat Loader” sweepstakes, sponsored by Bobcat Co. and Penton Agriculture.

“After I found out I won the sweepstakes I was ecstatic,” says Davis. “I had used Bobcat equipment prior to winning this machine, but I had wanted to buy a Bobcat skid-steer loader for many years. It was a dream come true.”

Davis splits his days serving his local community as sheriff of Wayne County in southern Iowa and farming. His farm consists of 1,600 acres of corn and soybeans; 120 acres of pasture; and 60 to 100 head of beef cattle. The first task Davis plans on completing with his new Bobcat skid-steer loader is to transfer a large stone rock from the edge of his property close to his home as a lawn ornament. He will also use the machine to help clean out barns, load manure and transfer hay bales.

The S650 is equipped with factory-installed two-speed travel, which is beneficial for loading hay bales onto trailers on Davis’ farm. A radio inside the loader’s cab and an 80-inch low-profile bucket were also included in the prize package. To be even more productive year-round, Davis decided to add an enclosed cab with air conditioning and heat, and selectable joystick controls.

Davis entered the contest at the 2016 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, which took place Aug. 30 to Sept. 1. This year’s show is Aug.29-31 at Decatur, Ill..
