New tool cuts time removing wheel hubs

Jerry Titera was tired of spending more than an hour taking the hubs off his Bobcat skid steer every time he needed to replace the bearings or seals on the wheel axle. So Titera, a farmer from Bagley, Minn., headed to his shop to design a device that could simplify the process.

The product, called the Hub Puller, consists of a metal wheel called the puller, one pin, and one bushing, Titera says. To use, you remove the lug nuts, wheel, and retaining cap. Then insert the pin into the puller, and install the puller on the studs. Once you tighten the lugs, you can grab the puller and remove the hub.

“It is patent-pending, and we have sent out brochures and have some sales locally,” says Charlette Shafer, assistant CEO of Hub Master, Inc. “We want to expand distribution to dealers and farmers across the United States.”

The Hub Puller is designed for use on medium- and large-framed Bobcats only. The puller sells for $395.00 plus tax shipping and handling. For more information, contact Hub Master Inc., Dept.
