The 2024 Farm Progress Show has something for everyone involved in agriculture. Besides numerous exhibits of the newest equipment and technology for crop farming, there are exhibits of interest for livestock producers, too.

The show rotates annually between Boone and Decatur, Ill. This year it’s at the Central Iowa Expo site, a few miles east of Boone. Compared to the show at Decatur, there are a lot more livestock-related equipment exhibits, products and services on display at the Farm Progress Show.

The list of exhibitors includes companies offering livestock handling equipment, trailers, buildings, shelters, scales, lighting systems, feed and nutrition supplements, manure handling equipment, and much more. Facility design, livestock marketing and other management services are represented.

There’s also forage harvesting, handling and haying machinery exhibited at the Boone show.

Hungry for a ribeye?

Livestock organizations have booths at the Iowa show, providing information for their members and other show attendees.

The Boone County Cattlemen have a well-attended exhibit. They are selling ribeye steak sandwiches on Lot 1160 in the southeast quadrant of the show site. Get a ribeye sandwich, chips and drink for $15.

“Many of the livestock equipment companies have exhibits in that area of the showgrounds,” says Rick Wild, Farm Progress Show operations manager. “However, you’ll find livestock equipment and other livestock-related products and services throughout the grounds as well.”

The 2024 FPS exhibitor list is available online at FarmProgressShow.com. Look under the Livestock Section.

While livestock-related exhibitors are well-represented at the Farm Progress Show at Boone, there are even more livestock product exhibits, demos and information sessions at Husker Harvest Days, being held Sept. 10-12 in Grand Island, Neb. The HHD show is also owned and managed by Farm Progress.

Husker Harvest Days

If you’re heading to Husker, that show is flexing its cattle muscle this year. Be sure to check out the new BEEF Building, formerly the Livestock Building. It’s located in the northwest quadrant of the showgrounds.

To find the latest in cattle technology and chutes, you’ll enter the BEEF Cattle Handling Facility adjacent to the BEEF Building. Visitors can peruse the latest in technology and hear from industry-leading experts.

“We have one of the most extensive live cattle-chute demonstrations in the country,” says Matt Jungmann, national events manager for Farm Progress. “For 34 years, Husker Harvest Days has been the place to see the latest advancements in this segment of the industry, from hydraulics to headgates.”

Chute demonstrations happen twice daily in the BEEF Cattle Handling Facility. That location will also offer educational sessions on topics of importance to cattle producers. For information on BEEF educational programming, live cattle-handling demos, exhibitors and more, visit HuskerHarvestDays.com.

Husker Harvest Days has a strong relationship with BEEF magazine, published by Farm Progress and widely read by cattle producers, Jungmann says. “So, this year we are rolling out the new BEEF Building at Husker Harvest Days. It shares the same name and logo with BEEF magazine.”
